Mother gets jail term for failing to provide necessaries of life

A woman who was gambling when her two children started a fire in the car in which they were left has been jailed for 12 months.

Mayron Bernice Rigby, 35, shearer, of Wairoa, was sentenced in Gisborne District Court after being found guilty of two charges of failing to provide the necessaries of life. She was given leave to apply for home detention.
