Two tourists who went missing on Rangitoto Island this afternoon have been reunited with their family.
A search for the pair was launched about 1.20pm after a man lost sight of his wife and daughter near the summit.
Police northern communications spokesman Inspector Willie Taylor said the family, from Singapore, were among "a lot of tourists" on the island today and they could have taken a "wrong turn" down from the summit.
"There's a great deal of confusion, bearing in mind there's a lot of people on the island at the moment so there is a number o people who can help them out. It's just a matter of us located them," said Mr Taylor.
"They have been found now and they've all been reunited."
