KEY POINTS:
The mother of a two-year-old boy who was stabbed last week has now been charged with the knifing.
The toddler was stabbed at his Te Aroa home on May 5 and was admitted to Waikato Hospital. He was discharged from hospital on Sunday.
Detective Sergeant Rod Carpinter, of Matamata-Piako CIB said the boy's mother had previously been charged with assaulting him.
"But the new charges reflect the extent we believe his mother was involved in the stabbing," said Mr Carpinter.
The mother is to reappear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow.
