A Hamilton mother still has a blackened eye following a road rage incident where a teenager bashed her in the head, shoulders and face in front of her children.
Renee Asici was dropping her two children off at school and childcare when the incident happened outside Fraser High School in Hamilton's Elliot Road two weeks ago.
Mrs Asici said she had pulled over and was discussing insurance details with the other female driver when she was attacked in front of other parents and teenagers arriving at the school.
"I went into shock," she said.
"It was so unexpected."
Mrs Asici said she was worried for her children, Hakan, 8, and Leyla, 4, who were sitting in the back seat.
"The safety of my children was jeopardised. That was my overriding worry."
Hamilton police spokesperson Kris McGehan said a 17-year-old was arrested and charged with assault.
He will appear in Hamilton District Court March 22.
