A mother and daughter have been rescued from near Mount Taranaki after they became stuck during a tramp.
Police received a phone call from the woman's husband at 4.40pm today who had spoken to her by cellphone.
The woman and her 12-year-old daughter had been tramping in the Poukai Ranges, near Mount Taranaki, when they became stuck due to icy conditions.
As she was carrying a cell phone, the woman managed to contact her husband when she was within coverage.
Using an application, police were able to send a message to the woman's cellphone which gave them her exact location.
