Consistency was the key to Wairarapa's Greg Moss winning the men's open singles title at the national darts championships in Nelson on Wednesday.
Moss, who has represented New Zealand, had finished runner-up on two previous occasions but a total of 12 successive victories, including five in qualifying play, saw him claim the major spoils on this occasion.
"He never put a foot wrong, he just kept on producing one top effort after another," Wairarapa manager Mike Kawana said of Moss's performance.
Playing against Moss in the grand final was 18-year-old "whiz kid" Jonathon Silcox, of Wainuiomata, but it was Moss who triumphed 4-2.
