Three southern saltmarsh mosquito larvae have been found during routine surveillance in Whangaparaoa, in the same place larvae were found last year.
The area was last treated a month ago and thought to be free of the pest.
The Ministry of Health says 0.42ha of swamp around Okoromai Bay, where the larvae were found, has been treated again and traps set.
