Morgan giving away Trade Me millions

Gareth Morgan is after a simple way to handle his Trade Me profits.

The economist and father of Trade Me founder Sam Morgan made about $47 million from the website's sale to Fairfax, but he is giving it all away.

Gareth Morgan says he is not rich but is happy with his life, which includes owing a modest Toyota Echo, and does not need that much money.

He is planning to give the money to worthy causes in New Zealand and overseas.

He said if he was younger he would put the money into a business venture, but at this stage of his life he cannot be bothered.

Mr Morgan is also giving the proceeds from his book about his motorbike adventure on the Old Silk Road, which is launched tomorrow, to UNICEF.
