More than 60 police officers faced criminal charges between 2007 and 2009, according to figures released today to Radio New Zealand under the Official Information Act.
The charges included rape, excess breath alcohol and various dishonesty and violence issues.
Two of the 66 police officers charged lost their jobs and 20 either resigned or retired because of the charges.
Some of the cases were still before the courts, according to police national headquarters.
