A total of 2147 claims for leaky homes are today on the books of the Government's Weathertight Homes Resolution Service (WHRS) and 269 claims have been resolved.
The WHRS, set up in 2002 the wake of the discovery many buildings had not been built properly watertight, has sent assessment reports to 1959 homeowners, national manager Lisa Ferguson said in a statement.
Of the 269 resolutions reached, 174 were through mediation, 20 through adjudication and 75 by other means.
Of the active claims, 474 are in the middle of the mediation or adjudication process.
Auckland is hardest hit by the claims. Figures to the end of February show there were 964 active claims in the region as well as 279 on the North Shore, 58 in Manukau and 91 in Waitakere.
Auckland City Council is understood to be liable for more than $5 million from 70 cases settled so far in its area.
With nearly 1000 still on the books, it is staring down the barrel of many millions more.
