KEY POINTS:
More than 1,400 athletes will don their swimming caps this morning for the fifth annual Auckland Harbour Crossing.
Boats and ferries will come to a halt as the swimmers make their way from Quinton Park at Bayswater to the Viaduct Harbour at 9.35am.
A number of elite athletes and celebrities are taking part, including top distance swimmer Phillip Ryan and surf lifesaving's Cory Hutchings.
