Carparks at Northern Busway stations are filling up 10 minutes earlier each year, transport authorities admit.
Commuters say the park-and- ride facilities are usually full by 7.30 or 7.45am - and on current trends could be full by 7am in three years' time.
What the transport agency is not planning is any more carparks, once those planned for Silverdale are completed. Building more carparks will not provide a "silver bullet" to the problem, says Auckland Transport communications boss Wally Thomas.
Extra feeder services, non-busway express services and integrated ticketing would make it easier for drivers, he said.
