The Government is set to make a larger-than-expected contribution to the Eastern Bay of Plenty mayoral relief fund.
Waiariki MP Mita Ririnui will present the Government's contribution to the mayoral flood relief fund at the Whakatane District Council chambers today, which the Rotorua Daily Post understands to be for $1.987 million, more than $200,000 more than initially expected.
The Government agreed to match contributions to the mayoral fund until September 6. By that date the fund had reached $1.781 million.
