More homes have been evacuated in Kaikoura after a potential landslide risk was detected.
Red Cross and Urban Search And Rescue staff went from house-to-house on Scarborough and Torquay Sts yesterday to tell people they needed to get out of their homes.
Seven people were evacuated and offered alternative safe accommodation.
Canterbury Emergency Management said a risk assessment following the recent earthquakes had identified a potential landslide which put those people at risk.
Access to Torquay St has been restricted to residents only. It is down to a single lane.
Traffic on Scarborough St is also being limited to a single lane.
Dempseys Track would be closed until further notice.
