Government drug-funding agency Pharmac will fund two more antidepressants, which it says may be more effective for some people.
Sertraline and Escitalopram will cost $700,000 over the next 2 years.
Medical director Peter Moodie said the drugs would be useful additions to the treatment options doctors had for patients with depression.
