There will be delays tonight for motorists using the city-bound lanes of Auckland's North Western motorway as work begins to repair damage caused by a serious crash this morning.
New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) will be repairing safety equipment on the motorway damaged in the crash near the Carrington Road overbridge at Point Chevalier.
Part of the motorway was closed this morning after a crash that seriously injured a man just before 5am. Traffic was diverted on to local roads, causing delays for motorists travelling in to the city.
NZTA's acting State Highway manager Steve Mutton said, "We expect the repairs to take about three hours and they will be completed in time for people to get to Anzac Day dawn services tomorrow.''
The motorway will remain open tonight but with reduced lanes in the vicinity of the overbridge from 11pm as repairs are done on the crash cushion damaged in the crash.
