Homicide detectives investigating the weekend death of a 39-year-old man at a party in Hastings say it is likely further charges will be laid.
The 39-year-old died at a Flaxmere address early on Saturday morning. His name has not been released, and a post-mortem will be conducted today.
Police said a 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was assisting with their inquiries.
He would appear in Hastings District Court this morning charged with assault.
A police spokeswoman said it was likely further charges would be laid.
