An armed methamphetamine user who fled police after allegedly assaulting a woman in Auckland is wanted for arrest.
After the alleged assault on Saturday, Waitemata police stopped the car Brad Anderson was driving and he fled. Later a gun and bullets were found in his car. The case has similarities to a situation earlier this week when an elderly man was allegedly taken at gunpoint by a man who had eaten raw methamphetamine.
According to a post on the Waitemata police Facebook page, Anderson is a 36-year-old Mongrel Mob associate and known P user. He is wanted for assault with intent to injure and possession of a firearm and ammunition after the assault, in which a woman's jaw was fractured.
"Later that day police stopped a car being driven by Anderson and he fled," the Facebook post said. "A police dog handler attempted to track him but he wasn't located. Officers searched the car he had been driving and found a shotgun and ammunition."
The man had still not been found and police said he is "believed to be using methamphetamine and his behaviour is likely to be unpredictable". "He is considered to be dangerous and should not be approached by members of the public."
