KEY POINTS:
We're in for a much more settled week this week with no weather extremes likely. A large high in the Tasman will spread over New Zealand and should bring 4 or 5 days of mostly light winds, more reasonable temperatures and very little rain.
Speaking of rain, our Weather Watch reporter in Gisborne, Richard Dryden, said the region had a decent soaking starting Saturday night and lasting off and on throughout Sunday. Rain or showers will clear today in Gisborne and I'm sure famers will be very happy with the top up. Rain fell in a number of dry areas yesterday, which is great news.
Rain?
Nothing really. Some rain of showers around Wairoa and Gisborne today but most other places should see a dry day. Some afternoon heating may produce an isolated heavy shower in the far north of the country.
Wind?
Mostly sea breezes and light winds today thanks to that high.
Sun?
A lot more than the weekend. Could be some morning and evening clouds for a number of places.
Temps:
Still humid over the North Island so it could be a muggy day there. The top half of the North Island will be around the mid 20s but will feel hotter. For the rest of the country highs should be around 20 degrees.
Severe Weather?
Just watching the next possible low - likely to affect the country between Friday and Sunday (sorry!). The South Island might see some higher temperatures in the east and heavy rain is possible on the West Coast.
Next Update: Tuesday.
