KEY POINTS:
Police say they are following a strong line of inquiry into a molotov cocktail attack on a Wainuiomata family home.
The attack took place about 12.30am Tuesday when two molotov cocktails were hurled into the house, one igniting curtains which the occupants managed to extinguish.
The other smashed through the window of the bedroom in which Iain Page and his wife Julie were sleeping, showering the couple with glass, but failing to ignite.
Police said a third molotov cocktail was found outside the house.
Detective Sergeant Brent Murray, of Lower Hutt CIB, told NZPA today that police were following a strong line of inquiry.
"We executed a search warrant late yesterday afternoon and we're now analysing items of interest found," he said.
The warrant was executed in Wainuiomata.
Mr Page said he leapt from his bed and rushed across the broken glass to the next room where he beat out the burning curtains with his bare hands.
"I wanted to put it out before it took hold," he told The Dominion Post.
Mrs Page said the attack was scary and had "aged me 20 years".
They said they did not know why their house had been targeted and thought it might be case of mistaken identity.
