Model has no memory of assault

A model charged with assaulting two police officers and an ambulance officer says she has no recollection of the incident.

Lee-Anne Marjoribanks, who is signed with model agency Clyne Management, tearfully told the Herald on Sunday: "I have no idea what happened."

The Auckland resident faces eight charges relating to an incident on Upper Queen St in the city centre on November 12.

Other offences include resisting the police officers, constables Karina Janislawski and Timothy Roberts, while they tried to carry out their duty, and threatening to kill Janislawski.

She is also charged with assaulting ambulance officer Elizabeth Coombe, careless driving and drink-driving at more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit.

At her Remuera home on Friday, Marjoribanks said she wasn't aware of the allegations until a friend read her the police charges four days later.

The 38-year-old said the alleged incident, and her inability to remember what happened, was likely caused by medication she was taking.

She did not know the name of her lawyer for the paper to contact.

Clyne Management's website describes it as one of the most high-profile agencies in the business.

The company says it was the driving force behind the success of numerous top models and talent including Kylie Bax and Nicky Watson in the 90s.

Marjoribanks' showreel features work in three TV ads, including one for Arbuckles.

Clyne director Kim Larking confirmed she was on his books, but said he had no knowledge of the case.

"It seems quite a concern," he said, after being told the charges.

Larking said he could not comment further until he had more knowledge of the case.

Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said she couldn't say much because the matter was before the courts.

"Clearly this person is facing some serious charges and we have no further comment to make," said Hegarty.

Marjoribanks, who is listed in the electoral rolls as a beneficiary, is due to reappear on December 9.
