Supermodel Kylie Bax has teamed up with Kiwi filmmaker Anna Wilding to raise funds for the Christchurch earthquake.
Wilding has raised thousands of dollars at events in Los Angeles and has also started work on a feature-length documentary about the recovery.
Bax has given several dozen pairs of designer boots to needy children.
Wilding has returned to her native Christchurch where her parents and brother live and is helping distribute money raised through her charity.
She said Bax was a longtime friend. She added: "We just joined forces. Both of us are known a little in the US and we were keen to raise awareness of what's going on here."
She is working with Christchurch producer Kelly Williams to make the film.
Meanwhile, former Cantabrian and Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan has helped raise $200,000 at a Christchurch earthquake fundraiser held at the New Zealand Embassy in Washington, DC. A fundraising night in Shanghai, China, has raised $320,000. A crowd of 420 attended the black tie ball. Half were expat Kiwis. A 2010 signed All Black jersey went for $38,000, the highest price at auction.
Meanwhile, more than $100,000 was raised at the Inter Dominion harness racing finals in Auckland a week ago.
