There were mixed results for Wairarapa at an inter- provincial bowls tournament played in the Wellington region on Sunday.
The senior men's team picked up seven out of a possible nine wins to take out their section but the senior women's .line-up managed just two wins and tailed the field home.
Highlight for the men's side was the unbeaten run in the triples where John Polson, Graeme Tindall, Brian Schischka and bench player Morrie Tregurtha were in action.
Singles player Ian Monaghan won two of his three matches and the same record was registered by the pair of John Claydon and Les O'Donovan.
Men's selector Dennis Richards was delighted with the consistency displayed by his side in all three disciplines.
"There was a lot of talk beforehand about how we could struggle but we were clearly the best team there," he said. "Every player pulled their weight. There was some very good bowls played."
The tale was nowhere near as bright for the Wairarapa senior women's team which managed just two wins, one in the singles and one in the triples.

The Wairarapa development squad men's team was on the end of an 11-0 beating from Wellington while the Wairarapa development squad women's team also lost to Wellington but by just the one match 6-5.
The Wairarapa junior women's team contested their tournament with sides from Kapi Mana, Wellington and Manawatu at Paraparaumu.
Round one saw Wairarapa lose the singles to Kapiti 18-21,lose the pairs 11-29 to Wellington lose the triples 14-26 to Manawatu and draw 13-13 with Kapiti in the 2-4-2 pairs.
Round two.-Singles: Wellington 21, Wairarapa 16. Pairs: Manawatu 31, Wairarapa 8. Triples: Kapiti 39, Wairarapa 5. 2-4-2 pairs: Wairarapa 22, Manawatu 16.
Round three.- Singles:Manawatu 21, Wairarapa 6. Pairs: Kapiti 29, Wairarapa 20. Triples:Wellington 18, Wairarapa 14. 2-4-2 pairs: Wellington 31, Wairarapa 4.
While the win-loss record was not impressive for Wairarapa they could take comfort from the fact that most of their games were closely contested.
On the domestic front Masterton Park's men's championship fours title has been won by Peter Ahkit, Roger Hoar, Barry Allen and Trevor Haxton. They had a narrow 16-15 win in the final over Frank Meyrick, John Kopua, Tony de Haas and Bob Thomas.
Lansdowne Bowling Club have staged their triples championships for both men and women.
In the men's final Cyril Burling, Rex Hoar and Jack Hare beat Ron Monaghan, Laurie Sargent and Tom McKay while the women's final saw Beth McLaren, Eileen Lehmstedt and Nola Jones beat Pam Hoblyn, Susan Sherwood and Myrtle Stanford.
