More fog was expected in Auckland this morning, raising the prospect of further disruptions to flights in and out of the city.
Yesterday's fog meant 11 international flights had to be diverted to Christchurch or Wellington, and dozens of domestic flights cancelled.
The backlog was cleared after flights resumed just after 12.30pm.
The fog also hung over Auckland harbour and North Shore suburbs for most of the morning.
Weather forecaster Bob McDavitt said last night that light winds and an anticyclone over the North Island could cause more fog today.
Mr McDavitt said it would fade with clearer conditions for the next few days, while a high over the South Island could cause fog and frosts.
He warned there could be persistent fog in Hamilton today, which would affect air traffic.
