A mistrial was directed today by Judge David Cameron in the Whanganui District Court and charges of rape were discharged against Michael Ron Te Weri and Jessie Akuhata Ngataierua Brider.
The charges of sexual violation and indecent assault against Brider were also discharged.
Judge Cameron suppressed the reasons for the mistrial.
The three lawyers representing Te Weri, Brider and Francis John Haami Potaka will appear at the court on October 18 to set down a date for a new trial.
