A body found in the Pauatahanui Inlet last night has been identified as Julie Ann Springer, who was the focus of a search operation in the Kapiti area, police say.
The search began when Ms Springer's car was found in Grays Road, Plimmerton, early on Monday morning.
Her death is being referred to the Coroner who will determine how she died.
The Nissan Pulsar car belonging to the the 53-year-old was still warm when found, and Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam said earlier that nothing had led police to believe her disappearance was suspicious.
A 12-strong search team concentrated on the coastal track around the Paremata inlet yesterday and police dogs tracked a scent along the track until it ran out near some boat sheds.
