Police have recovered the body of a West Coast man they had been looking for after concerns were expressed for his safety.
A possum hunter found the body of the 48-year-old man yesterday morning in his silver Daihatsu Sirion hatchback parked at Waiuta, near Reefton, police confirmed today.
Police had been looking for the man since Tuesday, when he was last seen at Runanga, 8km northeast of Greymouth, about 9.30am.
Sergeant Nigel Orpwood, of Greymouth police, said today there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death and police would file a report for the coroner.
