KEY POINTS:
Two women missing overnight after going for a walk on an island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf have been found safe and well.
The women did not return last night after going for what was meant to be a short walk on Ponui Island, about 1.5km southeast of Waiheke Island.
They were found by Police Maritime Unit staff on the police boat Deodar when it was searching the coastline at dawn.
Ground crews and a helicopter had been unable to find them yesterday.
