KEY POINTS:
A toddler taken from his mother's home in the Bay of Plenty town of Waihi at the weekend has been returned safe and well.
Two-year-old Logan Brady was taken from his mother's home about 6pm on Sunday, as was the mother's 1992 Mitsubishi Eterna car.
Police were concerned for the child's safety but Detective Simon Everson of Waihi CIB said he was returned yesterday evening.
Mr Everson said the boy's father, Charles Ronald Pourau, 32, had been arrested and charged with unlawful taking of his ex-partner's vehicle.
"He is in custody at the moment to undergo a psychiatric assessment," Mr Everson said.
He said further charges were likely.
Police had believed Pourau might have taken Logan to Napier.
