The car of a missing 42-year-old man has been found in a canal near Twizel in the Canterbury region.
The police national dive squad found the car belonging to David Fountain, of Twizel, in the Pukaki Ohau Canal last night.
Fountain was last seen at the Top Hut Hotel in Twizel about 1am on August 20, police said.
He had been out with a group of workmates.
He was supposed to turn up for work on Sunday morning and, when he failed to show, his work colleagues, then his family, contacted police, Fairfax reports.
