Police divers have found the body of David Allan Fountain in a canal near Twizel.
The 42-year-old's car was pulled from the Pukaki Ohau Canal late yesterday, and today the dive squad found a body in the same waterway, police said.
The body has been identified as Fountain's.
Police believe his car crashed and went into the canal. His death has been referred to the coroner.
Police offered their sympathies to Fountain's friends and family.
