Missing American tramper David Tamowski has been found safe and well after he went missing on the Routeburn track near Queenstown.
The 55-year-old man was reported missing by his wife two days ago when he failed to return after entering the track at the Routeburn Shelter on Tuesday last week.
She alerted authorities after Tamowski failed to make a planned flight to meet family in Auckland.
Police said he was safe and well and was currently in Te Anau.
Police will be speaking with him to understand exactly what happened.
