KEY POINTS:
A Japanese tourist missing overnight from a restaurant perched in the mountains above Queenstown was found dead at the base of a bluff on the gondola line yesterday morning.
Searchers found Takehiko Hirano, 66, between the top and bottom terminals of the gondola that carries diners to the Skyline Restaurant.
Police said Mr Hirano was last seen at the restaurant about 8.30 on Saturday night.
