The search continues today for missing Chinese student Jiayi Li after an overnight breakthrough in the case which led police to her car in Hamilton and the arrest of two men.
Ms Li, 18, also known as Kiko, was last seen in the Auckland suburb of Kingsland a fortnight ago and police said they were growing worried for her safety.
However, overnight police found her red 1998 Toyota Altezza car in Hamilton after a member of the public saw a news item about the missing teen on television and called police.
The car has been taken to a secure location.
Two Auckland men, aged 18 and 20, were arrested and will appear in Auckland District Court today on charges of stealing items belonging to Ms Li and trying to use her documents on May 19, the day she disappeared.
Police said although the recovery of her car was a major breakthrough, there still had not been any sightings of Ms Li.
Her bank account had not been touched since May 19, said police.
