An American sailor travelling around New Zealand has been found safe and well after his family reported him missing last week.
Picton police found 26-year-old Sean D'Epagnier on his sailboat Alexandra in Waikawa Bay, northeast of Picton, about 8pm Saturday.
Police launched a search last week after his family contacted the United States Embassy because they had not heard from him since the end of May.
Detective Sergeant Linda Simpson said Mr D'Epagnier was unaware he had been reported missing and has now contacted his family.
Mr D'Epagnier arrived in New Zealand in November and has been travelling around the country on the Alexandra.
