The two missing rafters have been found after they got into trouble on the Hutt River, near Wellington, last night.
A member of the public called police about 8.40pm to report his friends hadn't returned from a rafting trip in the Akatarawa Valley, a police spokeswoman said.
Six people were rescued by the Westpac Helicopter last night but two people were still outstanding by the time the search was called off.
After the search resumed this morning a police unit found the two rafters in a car park.
The two, a man and woman, had got out of the river last night and followed a walking track, a police spokesman said. They rested overnight then walked out to the car park this morning where they were found "fit and well".
