The search for a climber thought to be missing in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park overnight has been called off after she called police from Twizel to say she was safe and well.
The 28-year-old Belgian forgot to sign out of the intentions book at the Department of Conservation's headquarters when she returned from her climb to Mueller Hut yesterday, sparking the early morning search.
Inspector Dave Gaskin told NZPA the woman called police about 8.40am after she became aware that searchers were looking for her.
