Missing kayaker safe

The mystery of the missing kayaker has had a happy ending.

A search was launched on Friday after an unattended kayak with fishing gear and fish was found floating off Whangaparaoa.

But the search, which focused on the shoreline at East Coast Bays, was called off when a motorist rang the Coastguard on Saturday to say he had picked up a man whose kayak had blown out to sea.
