The kayaker missing off Wellington's Island Bay today has returned home safely.
Police and rescue helicopter crews had been looking for a kayaker feared to be missing and called off a search tonight due to darkness.
However, police were contacted this evening by the kayaker who told authorities he had not been in any diffculty and returned home safely.
All police and other units have been stood down.
