The body of a missing hunter has been recovered by Search and Rescue teams today.
Police said the hunter was reported missing by family yesterday, after he had not returned home from a lone weekend hunting trip. The hunter was due to return home at lunchtime on Sunday.
Canterbury police Search and Rescue carried out an aerial search of the area the hunter was understood to have been in yesterday and a body was located late last night.
Police said due to diminishing light conditions, it was unsafe to continue the recovery operation last night.
The body was recovered by helicopter today and formal identification confirmed it to be the missing hunter.
