Debris believed to be from Gulf Livestock 1 has sparked hope for the family of a missing Southland man.
Lochie Bellerby was one of two New Zealanders among the 43 people on the cattle ship which capsized during a typhoon on September 2.
The ship left New Zealand in mid-August, carrying 5800 cows to Tangshan on China's eastern coast.
Three people from the ship have been found, two of whom survived.
