Search and rescue teams have located the missing 5-year-old boy who was found safe and well near the area he went missing.
Inspector Mike Coleman, of Wellington, said the lightly-clad boy disappeared while walking on the Orongorongo Track in the Rimutaka Forest Park with his parents and other family about 3.45pm.
Deteriorating weather was a concern, with wind and rain setting in this evening, Coleman said.
