KEY POINTS:
A 38-year-old man and his 16-year-old son missing overnight on Mt Richardson in Canterbury have been found.
Police said the pair phoned family, gave a good GPS location and put out a silver survival blanket.
They were quickly picked up by helicopter and both rescued safe and well about 12.30pm.
Meanwhile search teams are still looking for a hunter lost in the Avoca Valley at the head of Lake Coleridge in Craigieburn forest park, northwest of Christchurch.
The man, 24, was reported missing by his fiancee yesterday afternoon after he did not show up at his vehicle at the set time.
Senior Constable Phil Simmonds said helicopter searched the area this morning but did not find him.
Ground teams with dogs were heading to continue searching, he said.
The man was fit and had good equipment.
