The body of missing British tramper Robert Atkin has been found in the Kauaeranga Valley near Thames.
Mr Atkin had been missing a week after going for a short walk in the area.
The 26-year-old was found just after 10am today and police believe he may have slipped and fallen.
His body was found near the bottom of a waterfall.
Thames Sergeant Jim Corbett said the area was very rugged and there were some steep bluffs. It was likely Mr Atkin's body had been there for some days.
Mr Atkin's body was found in the search zone. His death has now been referred to the coroner.
Around 10 people were out in the bush today after the search was scaled down from yesterday's effort when over 100 people were involved..
Mr Atkin's family are on their way to New Zealand. His girlfriend remains in Thames.
