The body of a missing man whose dinghy was found in an Invercargill river has been recovered.
Southern Police Communications Senior Sergeant Dave Scott said the man's partially submerged vessel was spotted by a member of the public in the Oreti River around 1pm Saturday.
A search and rescue operation involving helicopter, coastguard and local fishermen led to the man's body being located in the river near to where he was last seen at 7pm Saturday.
Southern police deployment coordinator Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said next of kin were still to be formally notified and the man's name has not yet been released.
