An 88-year-old man reported missing from his care home in Invercargill last night was found alive in the early hours of this morning, 10 hours after he disappeared.
Search and rescue (LandSar) volunteers found him in a ditch on Finlay Rd about 1.5km from his care home, police said.
He was wet, cold and muddy and has been taken to Southland Hospital.
Approximately 25 volunteer searchers from Invercargill and Gore LandSar groups, the Invercargill Amateur Radio Emergency Communications group and five police search and rescue squad members helped search overnight.
