KEY POINTS:
Miss Bitch and Mr Pimp are disappearing from the windows of clothing retailer Jay Jays.
The firm, criticised for marketing over-sexualised T-shirts to school students, yesterday said it had taken all T-shirts from the Little Losers' range out of window displays in its New Zealand and Australian stores.
It also said it would not restock any Little Losers' T-shirts that had motifs with alcohol-related messages or sexual innuendos. Family First director Bob McCoskrie said the T-shirts, with slogans such as Miss Bitch, Miss Wasted, Miss Floozy, Mr Well-Hung, Mr Asshole and Mr Pimp, were being marketed to children as young as 10.
But Jason Murray, managing director of the Just Group, parent company for Jay Jays, said the range was not targeted at children.
"The range is only available in adult sizes and the advertising has been placed in magazines that are intended to be read by young adults."
The range was meant to be light-hearted and the motifs did not promote bad behaviour, he said.
But because of the concerns raised and because Jay Jays actively supported youth causes in New Zealand and Australia, it would remove the offending T-shirts from window displays.
