Her two primary-aged children completed "child focus forensic interviews'' today and detectives would begin analysing those, police said.
A scene examination of her property was also continuing.
The woman could have been dead for days before she was found, as the last contact with her was on Thursday morning, Mr van den Heuvel said.
A 58-year-old Strathmore Park man, who knew the woman, has been arrested for breaching a protection order against her.
He appeared in the Wellington District Court yesterday and was released on bail. The man was granted interim name suppression until his next court appearance next month.
Mr van den Heuvel would not say if the man was a suspect in the woman's death.
A court charge sheet said the man had allegedly sent the woman correspondence sometime between Thursday and Sunday.
