Broadcaster Paul Holmes says his daughter, Millie Elder, is winning her battle with methamphetamine.
The 22-year-old has faced drugs charges, but was now with her father in Hawkes Bay and doing well, he said.
"I can tell you at the moment she's safe, she's living with us," he said. "She's out, I can't believe it. And she's done it herself."
Mr Holmes, ambassador for the Stellar Trust, said he knew from his family's experience "what an evil, pernicious piece of work this drug is".
"We've been deeply affected, and we're very angry," he said.
Millie had told her father that she became addicted after trying the drug once. "She reckoned one go and she was essentially hooked."
