A legal challenge to a police search warrant relating to drugs charges faced by broadcaster Paul Holmes' stepdaughter Millie Elder and her boyfriend Connor Morris was delayed today.

Elder and Morris face charges of possessing cannabis oil, ecstasy, P and receiving stolen property worth more than $1000. The charges date back to last September.

Owen Harold, representing Morris, told Auckland District Court today he wanted to challenge the legality of the search warrant.

"I want to discuss the admissibility of evidence obtained through a search warrant, then if necessary, the matter could go on to a full defended hearing," Mr Harold said.

But Judge Eddie Paul decided the matter should be heard by Judge David McNaughton, who previously heard the case on February 17.

Elder and Morris were remanded on bail until their next appearance on July 14.

Mr Harold and Jesse Soondram, defending Elder, both opposed applications from TVNZ and TV3 to film in court.

"Granting the application could only be for titillation purposes, so the applications before me are refused," Judge Paul said.
